Asymmetric Solid–Liquid Two-Phase Flow around a NACA0012 Cascade in Sediment-Laden Flow

چکیده
Sediment abrasion may cause the removal of material and efficiency loss to hydraulic machinery (hydro-turbine, pump, etc.), which worsen internal flow endanger safe operation machines. As is caused by impact sediment on solid surface, movement particles determines wear intensity. To understand mechanism machinery, motion characteristics asymmetric solid–liquid two-phase in a sediment-laden around NACA0012 cascades were studied. The laser particle imaging velocimetry (PIV) method was used measure quartz with median diameters d50 82.7 μm, 65.9 31.8 μm near wall at an angle 10° Venturi circuit. velocity slip between liquid phases, as well effects size Reynolds number slip, analyzed. results showed that: (1) asymmetrically distributed front cascade’s leading edge angle, there strong phases; (2) under influence inertia, phase higher than that deceleration stage, while lower acceleration stage; (3) process approaching edge, difference increases about 10% 8.8°.

Numerical Simulation of Sediment-Laden Flow Around a Circular Cylinder
In this paper, the sediment-laden flow around a circular cylinder is numerically simulated in order to obtain better understanding of hydrodynamics associated. A range of cases with different Reynolds numbers (Re) are studies. The effects of the concentration of the sediment on the drag coefficient are investigated. Results show that due to the fact that the laden sand particle colliding the cy...
متن کاملinvestigation of the velocity distribution in sediment-laden flow
introduction: for a velocity profile in turbulent flows, the flow conditions in the vicinity of the wall are described by logarithmic law of the wall. however, it has been extensively verified that the log-law does not apply in the outer region of the boundary layer. for example, in free surface flows, the law of the wall holds only for 20 percent of the flow depth from the wall. coles (1956) c...
متن کاملAdvection-diffusion sediment models in a two-phase flow perspective
Sediment profiles in open channels are usually predicted by advection-diffusion models. Most basic forms consider the terminal settling velocity of a single particle in still clear water. Alternative forms account for hindered settling at higher concentrations. It is not known, however, how these modifications relate to mass and momentum conservation of each phase. For dilute flow, it is known ...
متن کاملA method for bubble volume measurement under constant flow conditions in gas–liquid two-phase flow
Measuring the volume of a bubble, especially at its detachment, is a basic subject in gas-liquid two-phase flow research. A new indirect method for this measurement under constant flow conditions is presented. An electronic device is designed and constructed based on laser beam intensity. This device calculates the frequency of the bubble formation by measuring the total time of the formation p...
